83rd Annual Oyster Eat! Thursday, February 28th, 2020. 8 P.M. Til Midnight. The Sussex County tradition continues with the annual event being held at the Georgetown Fire Hall, 100 South Bedford Street, Georgetown featuring raw and steamed oysters. In 1937 the fire company established an annual fund-raising effort known as the “Oyster Eat.” Hundreds gather here each February to enjoy the food and fellowship of the event, which has been recognized by the United States Congress for its historical and cultural significance. Tickets: $27 in advance $30 at the door. Tickets may also be purchased at: Schagrin Gas in Lewes, Baker's True Value Hardware in Millsboro, First State Chevrolet in Georgetown, or from any member of the Georgetown Fire Company. Lights of Life presents the Mardi Gras Gala! February 29, 2020. 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, 1131 North DuPont Highway. Please join the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition for the 2020 Lights of Life Gala a Glamorous evening celebrating the excitement of New Orleans! The event will include a Silent and Live Auction, New Orleans Fare, hor d'oeuvres & Cocktails, Breast Cancer Survivor Showcase, and Dancing. In support of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition's Lights of Life presents Mardi Gras Gala, you can honor the life of a breast cancer survivor through the purchase of a tribute of celebration or a memorial to their legacy. The tributes will be displayed at our event and you can share your tribute online with a personalized note. Dress: Mardi Gras Inspired Attire, Black Tie Optional. All proceeds benefit local programs and services in Delaware and the surrounding regions. For more than 25 years the DBCC has been raising awareness of breast health issues through outreach, education, and support services for survivors.

“Wines you may not know.”  Saturday, Feb 29, 7 – 10 PM. Eagles Landing II 19606 Coastal Hwy, Rehoboth Beach, DE. We will explore wines that you may have never tried or be reintroduce you to wines you make have forgotten. Be prepared for a night of learning with the Rehoboth Beach Chapter of the American Wine Society. We are the local chapter of the American Wine Society. Our focus is learning about wines by having monthly tastings in the Rehoboth Area. Each month a different theme is selected and we taste and learn about those wines, that region, etc. The cost of the wines are shared among the attendees. Tastings are limited to 24 to 30 people depending on the wines and the venue. Members of the American Wine Society have priority over guests for attending the tasting. You are allowed to come as a guest 2 times before joining the National organization.
